(27th February 1967 – Present)

Jonathan Ive is an English designer and the Senior Vice President of Industrial Design at Apple Inc. His designs are responsible for most of Apple’s huge success as he designed the MacBook Pro, iMac, MacBook Air, iPod, iPod Touch, iPhone, iPad and iPad Mini. Apple would not be the same without Jonathan Ive. I am a massive fan of Jonathan Ive’s work, as I am typing this on my iMac. His work envisions everything I wanted my work to be as a Product Designer before moving to Automotive Design. His work still influences my designs today with the designs of my cars. He is respected globally as one of the most famous product designers in the world. His work has changed the lives of millions across the globe, as the iPhone was a global phenomenon. I want to incorporate the minimalistic design he portrays in his work into the design of my vehicles.

The work and principles of Dieter Rams, the chief designer at Braun from 1961 until 1995, influenced Ive’s work. In Gary Hustwit’s documentary film Objectified (2009), Rams says that Apple is one of only a handful of companies existing today that design products according to Rams’ ten principles of “good design.”
